happy birthday, nina

i met nina when i was 4 years old.  you know those friendships .... even if you don't see or talk to each other that often, years may go by without seeing each other, however, when you do get together, it's as if no time has pasted.   a friendship that created great memories {fondest were the summer-time ones}. nina is a true friend and one wonderful human being.  i am lucky and grateful.   {photo taken in the late 70/early 80's of Terry & Nina at Terry's wedding}

julie's shadow, love it, the 70's ....  barefoot, grass, friends, handmade halter top,  peace, love, playing outdoors until dark {and sometimes after dark}, long straight hair, perfect teeth, no make-up  ...   life was different then, thank goodness the friendship/s have remained and we are still those little girls, well, sort of.

do you ever wake up signing that song ...   it's a beautiful morning?   it's my mantra as i open up the blinds first thing in the morning, rain or shine and i sing it out loud,  however, i only know the words and tune to the first line.....

boy, tammy & i sure know how to throw a party... along with a scavenger hunt.  { and we are complete opposites, details saved for another blog} ... just think what we could come up with if we had more time...but, this is all about maddy, not us.

have a heart.

 people that know me, know i  collected hearts since way back.... i still see hearts in nearly everything, food, rocks, clouds, leaves, spatter marks, flower petals, on and on,  you get my drift.  you'll never guess what this is ... or i should say, how this happened.   once upon a time we lived on highland drive in carlsbad and i had a cat named seymour.  one night i  was eating  ice cream in my bedroom,  out of this cup/mug and just like me, left it on my night stand.  got home from school and found it on the shag carpet {it was the 70's you know}  seymour had been licking the mug which had a spoon in it and he knocked it off the table and there is was ....   magic!      perfect heart.

ok, the heart rock thing ....  i've been collecting them since the 70's.  you can imagine by now i have thousands, from all my travels and all my friends travels, local beaches, gravel that's been delivered to my house, etc.   i remember the first one i found was in front of a beach house in carlsbad that i eventually rented twenty years later.  still have it.
